Hillary Clinton picked Eight Belles, the only filly in the race, to win the Kentucky Derby. She came in second, behind Big Brown, and, sadly, had to be euthanized on the track because she broke two ankles after crossing the finish line…

An omen for her campaign? Perhaps a metaphor for the Democratic nomination race?

Just sayin’…





It’s Hockey Night in, er, uh Houston!

The PoliSci Department has the highest concentration of hockey fans among the faculty.  Three of us are really happy going into the NHL’s Conference Finals.  Why?  Taylor — Dallas Stars.  Faletta — Detroit Red WIngs.  Burke — Philadelphia Flyers.

Speaking of the Dallas Stars, we present this morning’s dramatic 2-1 win by the Stars over San Jose:

And yes, Taylor stayed up to watch.  It’s amazing what caffeine will do.  Next up: Bets on the Conference Finals…

On this day we celebrate the power of breweries and distilleries’ prowess in helping to craft the nation’s most famous Latino party out of a battle in a Mexican city that most have never heard of…
